About the Pattern Kaleidoscope

We partnered with a hand marbling studio to create a print full of movement and color. The result reminded us of the seemingly endless colors of the kaleidoscope.

Sourced from a vintage French archive, this pattern brings to mind the softer lines and rounded corners used in the Art Moderne trend that emerged in 1930s America as a variation to the earlier and popular European Art Deco movement.

About the Pattern DaDa

This unique artwork is an artists proof from a French archive and dates from the 1930s. We were instantly reminded of the provocative group of artists working within the early 20th century movement Dadaism.

Inspired by one of our favorite artists Raoul Dufy. Dufy was a member of the first avant-garde art movement of the 20th – century Fauvism. Les Fauves, as they were called, were led in part by Henri Matisse and their paintings are characterized by wild color combinations and expressive linework.
