You can identify true Mil-Spec paracord by finding a “Tracer” or “Identifier” strand inside of the sheath. They are very small strands, but will be colored Black and Tan and are included inside the sheath with the main white nylon inner strands. Type IV 750lb Paracord is used for cargo parachutes by the U.S. Military and Type III 550lb paracord is used for personnel chutes.
